Convert a Type III exit ramp to a Type IV exit ramp

Description: Type III includes two exit lanes while a large percentage of traffic volume on the freeway beyond the painted nose would leave at this particular exit. An auxiliary lane to develop the full capacity of two lane exit was developed for 1500 feet. The entire operations in this type of exit ramps took place over a significant length of the freeway in most cases. Type IV is used where one of the through lanes, the outer lane, is reduced and another full width parallel from tangent lane developed with a taper is also forced to exit.
